Fine Art Portraiture
Fine art portraiture is the part of the portfolio where I can shape a picture around intention rather than chance. The final image still has to feel human, but the goal is not to simply record a person as they stood in front of the camera.
This is portrait photography that sits closer to art direction, visual storytelling, and mood than to standard headshots. The work may be quiet, theatrical, direct, melancholic, or slightly strange, but it should always feel authored.
I work in and around The Hague, where the city, coast, and surrounding Dutch light often find their way into the images. Even when a portrait is staged, I want it to carry something real: presence, hesitation, character, or the feeling that a person has stepped out of a longer story.
